DUBLIN, Ireland, September 4, 2000:- Openet Telecom has signed a £500,000 hardware contract with HP Ireland and its ebusiness partner Mentec. Openet, which recently signed a European deal with Nortel Networks, will run its mediation software on HP servers.
The contract covers the supply of HP 9000 L-class servers. Openet Telecom's mediation software Fusionworks™ is integrated on the HP servers and shipped to the various customer sites in Europe.
Stuart Kelly (Vice President, Sales, Openet Telecom) added, "Downtime is not an option. It is essential that our technology is up and running 24 hours a day, seven days a week without interruption. HP has a proven record in providing reliable scalable technology."
"HP customers want solutions that provide peace-of-mind so they can concentrate on higher-level business objectives, not their IT infrastructure," said Michael Stack (Telecoms Account Manager, HP Ireland). "Our successful reselling relationship with Mentec helps us deliver powerful mission-critical solutions so our customers are better armed to outpace the competition."
"When we announced our partnership with HP, one of our key objectives was to strengthen our e-commerce solutions for blue-chip businesses. The contract with Openet Telecom has come about through that partnership and is one aspect of the e-business solutions we now provide for our customers using HP technology," added Steve Moroney (Corporate Account Manager, Mentec).
Openet Telecom and Nortel Networks are targeting the European telecommunications market with an innovative solution which will provide new service providers with a pre-configued billing and mediation package lowering the barriers to market entry for them.
"The rapid pace of change in the telecommunications industry means that Openet is entering a most exciting era. We are pleased that HP technology will be supporting their business goals," added Michael Stack.
