Openet Telecom Appoints Sales VP for EMEA

London, 8th January 2003, Openet Telecom appoints Jan Wiejak as VP Sales EMEA to drive new sales strategy focused on the leading operators.
Openet Telecom, a world leader in real-time charging and convergent mediation, today announced the appointment of Jan Wiejak as VP Sales EMEA. Jan brings a proven ability to sell complex multi-million dollar solutions in the IT and Telecom sectors. He will build on Openet's existing successful track record in Europe with Tier 1 operators, demonstrated most recently by the conclusion of a global agreement to fulfil Orange's mediation, content-charging and pre-paid needs. Jan's appointment again marks the strength of Openet's executive team, and increasing focus on building relationships with the leading operators in Europe.

These operators are facing many issues both in terms of improving operational efficiency, and of course in generating revenue streams from new services such as 2.5G, 3G, broadband IP and Wi-Fi (802.11 wireless LAN)," commented Wiejak. Prior to joining Openet, Jan held senior positions with Otaview/BlueKite.com, Lucent Technologies, Kenan Systems, Digital Equipment Corporation, Meta Machines and GEC. In particular, as a member of Kenan's Software Products Group Executive Board he grew business in EMEA from zero in 1995 to $200M in 2000, achieving or exceeding aggressive sales targets each year. In the process, he won large billing contracts ($10M+) with leading wireline and wireless telecom operators in Europe and built and managed a team of 50 staff across European offices in UK, France, Germany, Spain, and Belgium.
Jan holds a BA Mathematics (1st class honours) from Christ's College, Cambridge; a PhD Physics from Imperial College, London and a Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
