Omnitel Lithuania Deploys Openet to Increase Revenue for Both Pre Pay Data and Advanced Services

DUBLIN, Ireland – March 12, 2008 – Openet a provider of Transactional Intelligence solutions, today announces that it has been chosen by Omnitel Lithuania, the largest telecommunications company in the Baltics, to provide FusionWorks Convergent Charging and FusionWorks Network Edge Rating across the operator’s two million-strong subscriber base. The combined solution from Openet has been used to increase pre-pay data usage control with consistent and seamless service regardless of individual plans, while enabling Omnitel to quickly deploy new revenue generating tariffs, promotions and services.

Despite its small population, Lithuania is one of the world’s most sophisticated mobile markets, with 140% mobile penetration and a network footprint of 98%. Mobile minutes have long surpassed fixed call time, and 76% of mobile customers use their device and networks to access the internet. With this in mind, Omnitel needed a system capable of tracking usage across multiple services including voice, SMS, mobile internet and mobile TV. Omnitel also chose to implement FusionWorks Convergent Charging because the majority of Lithuania’s mobile users are on pre-pay charging models, therefore the operator needs access to real-time intelligence to ensure that data services are only available when credit is available.
 
In addition, Openet will also simplify the management of Omnitel’s rating schemes and unify its rating tables across pre-pay data customers. FusionWorks Network Edge Rating will allow Omnitel to stay competitive through the swift deployment of new tariffs, ad hoc promotions and new services that will drive top line revenue for the company.
