Heavy Reading Validates Subscriber Optimization Software Category

March 8, 2011 - Openet

DUBLIN, Ireland– March 8, 2011 – Openet, the most innovative provider of Subscriber Optimization Software (SOS) to tier one communications and media service providers, has been featured in “Rethinking BSS/OSS: Subscriber Optimization Software,” a new white paper by Heavy Reading. The white paper validates the creation of the SOS market and urges operators to focus on subscriber experience and visibility.

The popularity of next-generation devices and the consumption of network data have created a need to rapidly address deficiencies and redefine the way policy, charging, mediation and subscriber data management (SDM) systems are currently utilized. Openet recognizes these ongoing changes, along with the need for a new structure to support operators’ efforts to mitigate existing network issues while developing new revenue models to ensure long-term success. The Company established the SOS category in September 2010 as a first step in reshaping outdated ways of doing business and bringing operators into a new era focusing on subscribers’ needs.

“The launch of the SOS category by Openet makes practical sense for enabling operators to remain profitable and competitive,” said Ari Banerjee, Senior Analyst, Heavy Reading. “This category succinctly captures immediate needs of network operators’ requirements, enabling them to balance bandwidth and network resources with the need to execute on their personalization and customer experience strategies. Software components in this category can enable operators to continue to innovate new models, offer new services and raise the bar on subscriber satisfaction.”

“Legacy software has been historically disjointed and requires the development of piecemeal compilations, which are no longer effective or efficient in meet the evolving needs of operators or subscribers,” said Michael Manzo, CMO of Openet. “The creation of the SOS category is an active call for change in the industry, and we encourage others to join the movement and give operators what they really need.”
