Openet Telecom Selected by BT to Expand its Portfolio of Billing and Mediation Products

June 26, 2001 - Openet

26th June 2001; Openet Telecom, the world leader in convergent mediation, today announced that their product FusionWorks™ has been selected for inclusion in BT's Information Systems Engineering (ISE) billing reference model. After an extensive assessment of the current and possible future needs for convergent usage data processing across traditional telephony, Internet protocol and next generation mobile domains, the ISE billing team chose FusionWorks™ to enhance its billing and mediation product range.

Robbie Jackson, manager of BT's reference model, said: "The addition of Openet's solution to our portfolio will enable us to continue to provide expert and impartial advice to the BT group on the best commercially available billing and mediation packages."

FusionWorks™ provides a complete convergent mediation solution that forms the backbone of any service provider's business infrastructure and support system. This includes the collection of subscriber usage information, the integration of new and legacy billing systems, customer care, data warehousing, fraud management and other related applications. FusionWorks' rules driven architecture is well positioned to meet all usage mediation needs in the reference model. The software easily interfaces with other applications, providing a unified, real-time view of each customer and their usage habits. This enables service providers to target strategic sales and marketing campaigns, leading to increased revenues from value-added services.

"As networks get more diverse, services get more personalised and billing for them more complex, having the ability to collect and correlate the relevant information required from many sources in order to bill for them is paramount for any operator today. FusionWorks™ and its convergent nature brings this functionality to us", says Jackson.

"This is a major endorsement for Openet Telecom. To be selected in ISE's billing reference model and be seen as part of the larger solution for BT's convergent usage data processing is profound recognition," concluded Peter Galloway, UK based Sales Director at Openet Telecom.

Openet Telecom's convergent mediation solution complements the systems currently in place in the reference model, which include other major solution providers such as Geneva, Portal and Lucent.
