Openet Telecom Secures IPDR Version 3.0 Certification

June 18, 2002 - Openet

Dublin, 18th June 2002, Openet Telecom, a world leader in convergent mediation, today announced that its product FusionWorks™ Mediation, has been certified on the recently released version 3.0 of the IPDR standard and is currently one of the few IPDR-member companies to be certified to this standard.

Version 3.0 represents a new level of maturity in IPDR's important standardisation process, offering practical business benefits to certified products and companies. It enables companies to provide "plug and play" systems to exchange information with other participants without customisation, expensive integration costs and within a short time frame. IPDR states, "Version 3.0 represents the final culmination of over two years of implementation experience and improvements by IPDR member companies. The result is a production-grade specification, accompanied by working reference code libraries in Java and C." "The increasing complexity presented by next-generation communications technologies makes it vital that standardisation is promoted and encouraged. The IPDR's advances in this area make it even easier to deploy FusionWorks™ Mediation into the IP space, enabling IP and hybrid network operators to charge for the value of services and not just on flat-fees," stated John Rainger CEO of Openet Telecom. IPDR's NDM-U v3 is supported by the bulk of the mediation and billing industry because it offers the following enhancements over past usage records:
  • supports multiple evolving services such as voice over IP, wireless applications, streaming media, etc.
  • offers both high-volume binary and easy XML encodings
  • future-proofed with schema-contract definition and self-describing records.
