Dublin, 28th August 2002, Openet Telecom appoints VP of Professional Services to extend its lead as a world-class provider of mediation solutions.
Openet Telecom, the world leader in convergent mediation, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Tony Melvin as VP of Professional Services. Melvin will extend Openet's services business, building on its position as a leading player in the support and delivery of carrier-class mediation solutions.
Prior to joining Openet Telecom, Melvin held a range of senior management roles in Billing and Customer Care with Kenan Systems, Lucent Technologies and CSG Systems and previously in the Network Management domain with Sodalia in Italy.
Melvin was previously Director of Professional Services, EMEA, for Kenan Systems and subsequently for Lucent Technologies following their acquisition of Kenan. In this role, he built from scratch a large and very successful team of Billing and Customer Care Consultants across six European countries. He then became Global Strategic Planning and Operations Director for the Software Professional Services Group in Lucent, successfully launching multiple initiatives and teams including Financial Operations, Knowledge Management, Partner Program, Services Marketing, Integration Solutions Centre and the Quality Program.
Melvin then went on to take the roles of Director of Product Management, EMEA and Managing Director, EMEA for the Billing and Customer Care Group in Lucent Technologies. He had overall leadership for a business of $100m with headcount of about 400 and played a key role in providing product vision and development strategy across all products in the portfolio.
"Tony brings extensive experience of the billing and customer care world to Openet. His ability to build high-value teams will bring significant benefits, not just to Openet Telecom, but to our customer base as well," explained John Rainger CEO at Openet Telecom. "Expanding our services business is a focus for Openet because, in the increasingly complex environment of data mediation, we feel our customers need more than just a packaged solution".
"Providing high-value services is an essential business strategy for Openet" said Tony Melvin. "Customers need a trusted partner that understands the telecommunications industry and can help them maximise the return on their investment in the FusionWorks™ product, both immediately and over the long term."
Melvin holds a BSc Physics (1st class honours) from Loughborough University of Technology in the UK and a PhD from the Joint Research Centre of the European Communities, Italy.
