Dublin, 11th March 2003, Openet Telecom, a world leader in real-time charging and convergent mediation, today announced that its award-winning FusionWorks Mediation solution is being deployed at Orange Suisse - this is the first implementation under a three-year global contract signed with the Orange Group in the later part of 2002. Orange Suisse, with a subscriber base of over one million, will use FusionWorks Mediation to replace their incumbent IP mediation solution.
Under the Global Agreement signed with the Orange Group in December 2002, Openet will provide a harmonised mediation solution across Orange's network, enabling Orange Suisse and other Orange affiliates to easily implement, manage, charge and bill sophisticated services - leading to enhanced profitability and quality of service. In addition, the real-time charging capability of the FusionWorks platform is being used to enable accelerated roll-out of new value-added packet-based services, such as MMS, content and commerce.
With FusionWorks Mediation, Orange Suisse will extract accurate network usage information in order to bill correctly for their IP-based products and services. Orange Suisse also expects to be able to increase their average revenue per user (ARPU) through charging for services on the basis of value rather than volume as before.
"Openet Telecom addressed our mediation requirements and offered us the opportunity to rapidly extend service offerings to our customers, while at the same time exceeding our expectations of improved data flow to our billing systems," commented Ron Ridgely, Telecommunication Systems Integration Manager, Orange Suisse. "FusionWorks Mediation will help us significantly reduce our costs and give us the ability to rapidly introduce new products to market. We also expect to further leverage the FusionWorks platform's extended real-time charging capabilities - to enable us to roll-out new value-added products and services to our pre-paid subscribers."
"Having addressed Orange's strategic mediation needs at a Group level, Openet is now identifying the needs of each individual operator's network and providing not only the solution, but the professional services needed to implement the migration and support the solution going forward," explained John Rainger, CEO, Openet Telecom. "Deploying FusionWorks Mediation at Orange Suisse is the first example of many individual implementations that we are working on with the Orange group operators - once again highlighting Openet's leadership in the real-time charging and convergent mediation space."
FusionWorks Mediation collects, mediates and distributes network usage data from any combination of circuit and packet-based networks in wireline, wireless or broadband IP environments, whether traditional or next-generation. The FusionWorks platform has the ability to support real-time authentication, authorisation and accounting of packet-based services for any type of customer, whether they are pre-paid, post-paid, transient or roaming. Working as an in-service broker between the network, IN and BSS Systems to enable sophisticated charging and delivery, the FusionWorks platform will support and enhance Orange Suisse's ability to drive services and maximise revenue generation.
