Openet named most innovative vendor at World Communications Award 2018

November 1, 2018 - Openet

DUBLIN, 1st November 2018

Openet is delighted to announce that it was named as the Most Innovative Vendor at the prestigious World Communications Awards in London last night. The award recognises the significant progress the company has made in disrupting the BSS market with its Digital Business Platform (DBP).

Openet fought off stiff competition from some of the mobile industry’s largest and most well-known vendors. It brings additional validation to Openet’s efforts to change the way global service providers create, offer and monetise new digital services.

Some of the comments from the judges included:

“A state-of-the-art and highly innovative approach to the BSS issues being faced in digital transformation projects.”

“This architecture is a differentiator for in a telco world in which monolithic, highly redundant and complex BSS/OSS systems are still predominant.”

Niall Norton, CEO, Openet, said “Last year Openet set out our stall to change the game in how telecoms software is developed and delivered. The industry is changing, and vendors must adapt to provide more open and agile solutions. Our approach, through our Digital Business Platform is radically different. The traditional legacy mega-vendor approach was to over-charge and under deliver. Those days are gone. Our award win is recognition that the approach we are taking is the right one. We will work to provide solutions that will deliver real benefits to the telecoms industry as it undergoes digital transformation and gets ready for 5G.”

DBP is a new pragmatic and cost effective approach to BSS transformation. It is available to telecoms operators as a best of breed, end-to-end, Digital OSS/BSS platform using Openet and its partners’ solutions. Components of DBP are also provided as an add-on to legacy systems – for example, real-time charging adjunct to legacy billing systems. At the heart of DBP is Openet's library of microservices. These have been used for a collaborative development approach with Openet customers, working to use DevOps to co-develop solutions that use the Openet microservices as a foundation. This agile approach to delivering solutions enables choice when service providers are transforming their IT systems.
