Openet named the Leader in Technology and Product Roadmap according to Infonetics policy survey
December 6, 2011 - Openet
DUBLIN, Ireland – December 6, 2011 – Openet, a leading provider of Service Optimization Software (SOS) to tier one communications and media service providers, today announces a lead ranking in Infonetics’ annual policy survey, entitled “Policy Management Deployment Strategies and Vendor Leadership: Global Service Provider Survey.” This global survey of fixed, wireless and converged carriers finds that bandwidth on demand and advanced subscriber control capabilities top the list of the strongest application drivers behind operators’ policy management investments. This survey asks respondents to name the top policy management vendor for eight purchase criteria and ranked Openet as the leader in technology and product roadmap.
Openet is among the most trusted and experienced vendors in the policy management market, beginning with the 2008 launch of Openet Policy Manager. Openet has grown to become the world’s leading policy vendor with global tier one deployments, cutting-edge product updates and a series of awards recognizing Policy Manager’s effectiveness and technological innovation.
“Flexibility and bandwidth control are key issues for carriers today, along with advanced subscriber controls, and this won’t end anytime soon,” said Shira Levine, directing analyst for next generation OSS and Policy at Infonetics Research and author of the report. “Policy management is no longer a competitive advantage, but a critical tool for network management and monetization. These drivers will continue to evolve, especially with LTE/WiMAX growth projections, and policy will be used as both a proactive and reactive solution to delivering innovative content and services.”
With issues such as bandwidth congestion, revenue pressure and high turnover, wireless and converged carriers are turning to policy management solutions to solve both network and business challenges. The policy market has become increasingly competitive in 2011, with a dynamic vendor landscape and increased consumer expectations of control and transparency. Openet anticipated today’s complex and cross-network policy needs from the beginning; its most recent offering, Policy Manager 4, offers operators the flexibility to support rapidly changing business models and use cases through a dynamic Policy Decision Core for both 3G and LTE networks.
“Policy management is only going to become more complex as LTE networks become a reality for a growing number of carriers—and advanced subscriber controls are on the upswing as a driver for policy deployments,” said Michael Manzo, CMO of Openet. “We believe 2012 will see an acceleration in the deployment of advanced subscriber controls that deliver real-time usage information, new dynamic payment options, comprehensive parental controls and a platform for enabling partner service innovation. Greater engagement through advanced subscriber controls will result in a simpler, more personalized customer experience that Openet can enable today.”
