Openet Named as Finalist in 2009 American Business Awards

May 27, 2009 - Openet

DUBLIN, Ireland – May 27, 2009 – Openet, a provider of Transactional Intelligence solutions for the world’s largest and most innovative service providers, was named a Finalist today in the New Product or Service of the Year category in The 2009 American Business Awards.

The American Business Awards are the nation’s premier business awards program.  All organizations operating in the U.S.A. are eligible to submit entries to the ABAs – public and private, for-profit and non-profit, large and small.

More than 2,600 entries from companies of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted for consideration in more than 40 categories, including Most Innovative Company, Best Management Team, Best New Product or Service, Best Corporate Social Responsibility Program and Best Corporate Environmental Responsibility Program.  Openet will be competing in the New Product or Service of the Year category for Telecommunications.

Openet was nominated for its Fair Usage solution, which enables telecom service providers to ensure profitability from their data services by enforcing limits on consumer usage volume, while offering subscribers additional options when limits are reached.  Built on Openet’s award-winning FusionWorks™ Framework, service providers can implement the Fair Usage solution to meet needs for regulating telecom network bandwidth.  By identifying high-volume usage over any time period and implementing various escalation responses when limits are reached, such as reducing bandwidth or limiting specific types of services during peak hours, among other notable features, telecom operators are able to exert maximum control over networks.  These capabilities are crucial as content sent over wireless networks becomes richer, requiring increasing amounts of bandwidth.

“Despite very tough economic conditions, many organizations and individuals continue to perform well,” said Michael Gallagher, founder and president of The Stevie Awards.  “The results of the 2009 ABAs thus far are a testament to the resilience, creativity, and hard work of American organizations, executives and workers.”

Members of the Awards' Board of Distinguished Judges & Advisors and their staffs will select Stevie Award winners from among Finalists in final judging that will continue through June 3.   Finalists were chosen by business professionals nationwide during preliminary judging in April through early May.

“As telecom network bandwidth becomes an increasingly in-demand resource, service providers are struggling to maintain high-quality service levels to ensure a flawless user experience,” said Niall Norton, CEO of Openet.  “Openet’s history of innovation enabled the creation of the Fair Usage solution to alleviate bandwidth problems for operators while improving performance for all subscribers.  This solution solves a very real issue in today’s uber-connected world where any type of content can be accessed via a mobile device.”
