DUBLIN, Ireland – August 22, 2012 – Openet, a global leader of high performance transaction management software for network operators, today announced the creation of Openet Labs to foster research and development of new technologies, new services, and new business models.
Openet Labs supports Openet’s mission to help operators innovate how people, machines, and services interact with their networks. Led by Openet CTO Joe Hogan, Openet Labs works with technology partners and third party developers to explore new, innovative services and cutting edge technologies.
“Openet Labs is an environment in which the best minds work together to generate and nurture new ideas that could help our industry solve technical or business problems,” said Openet chief technology officer Joe Hogan. “This innovation is crucial as operators evolve their businesses to meet the needs of a extremely dynamic and unpredictable market.”
Openet Labs has already contributed significantly to the industry. Innovations include standards such as the Sy interface between the Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF) and online charging system (OCS), new business models such as those enabled by subscriber engagement, and most recently Interaction Gateway, a solution enabling operators to control the signaling storm created by “chatty” apps.
Openet Labs provides a broad ecosystem for innovation, including prominent academics within an Openet Research Fellows program as well as with third party technology providers and researchers. This enables Openet to deliver the most innovative and complete solutions to satisfy customer’s current and future needs for dynamic network transaction management.
