DUBLIN, Ireland – August 22, 2012 – Openet, a global leader of high performance transaction management software for network operators, today announced the creation of Openet Labs to foster research and development of new technologies, new services, and new business models.
Openet Labs supports Openet’s mission to help operators innovate how people, machines, and services interact with their networks. Led by Openet CTO Joe Hogan, Openet Labs works with technology partners and third party developers to explore new, innovative services and cutting edge technologies.

Innovations include standards such as the Sy interface between the Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF) and online charging system (OCS), new business models such as those enabled by subscriber engagement, and most recently Interaction Gateway, a solution enabling operators to control the signaling storm created by “chatty” apps.
