Openet expands investment in Latin America to support regional growth

December 6, 2012 - Openet

DUBLIN, Ireland – December 6, 2012Openet, a global leader of real-time transaction management software and services, today announced its expanded presence in Latin America by moving to a bigger office in Brazil to support the company’s growth in the region. This investment builds on Openet’s existing Sao Paulo office and reflects the maturing telecommunications market in South America. Considered home by almost 200 million people, Brazil is also one of the world’s most sought after tourist destinations. In the next few years, the country’s wireless traffic will increase exponentially as they host more than three million visitors for the FIFA World Cup in 2014, and millions more for the 2016 Olympic Games. Openet is working with service providers as they prepare their network infrastructure to meet these challenges.

“South America is among the most dynamic and innovative regions in the world, and Openet’s strong business growth with customers like Nextel Brazil and CTBC reflects that” said Openet CEO Niall Norton. “The region’s highly skilled and motivated workforce contributes to Openet’s success worldwide, and a continued investment in Latin America is a key part of our corporate strategy.”

Openet infrastructure enables operators to innovate the services it provides to better accommodate the specific needs of individual subscribers. Products such as the Openet Interaction Gateway enable operators to empower their subscribers to select and purchase specific services directly from their device, as well as monitor spend and usage in real time.

“80% of the mobile phones in this region are pre-paid,” said Openet Regional Business Development Director Maurício Feitosa. “Interaction Gateway enables operators to offer different types of services to their pre-paid customers, to better engage with them, and reduce costs of customer service. We’ve already seen great results with this product in the US and look forward to offering it within Latin America as well.”
