Openet To Demonstrate How Cable Operators Can Increase ARPU Through iTV Services at the CableLabs Summer Conference

August 10, 2010 - Openet

DUBLIN, Ireland – August 10, 2010 – Openet, the leading provider of Transactional Intelligence for the world’s largest and most innovative network service providers, today announced its plans to demonstrate how cable operators can further monetize interactive TV services at the CableLabs® Summer Conference 2010.  This CableLabs (Cable Television Laboratories, Inc.) members-only conference is being held at The Keystone Resort and Conference Center in Keystone, Colo. on Aug. 15-18 2010.

Openet will showcase its  Subscriber Data Management architecture and Interactive Services Fulfillment solution, demonstrating how cable operators can utilize both to increase ARPU through value-added interactions and extend EBIFTM and tru2way®-based standard applications to offer subscribers a complete set of  "subscriber aware" personalized promotions and offers.

According to a recent FourthWall Media survey, viewers spend significantly more time in front of the TV than their computers, and they want one-click engagement with their favorite programs, movies and commercials and the ability to look up phone numbers of restaurants via a Yellow Pages TV app, view weather applications, local news and request additional information about a company or product after watching commercials.  According to the study, three times as many respondents would prefer to use their remote over another device to cast a vote on a reality TV show like "American Idol," and nearly a third indicated they would spend less time on their computers if iTV applications were available to them.

Thirty four percent said they would watch more TV than they currently do if they had access to iTV applications.  Respondents strongly agreed these applications make TV watching more convenient and personalized. This could lead to significant additional revenue for operators, who could also upsell premium channels when an interactive application is presented to a user.

" Operators are utilizing subscriber data, charging, "click-to-buy" and fulfillment of flow through provisioning to increase interaction, lower operational support costs and offer targeted and personalized services and pricing, as well as "Buy Now" content packages," said Kelly Anderson, director of MVO solutions at Openet. "Our flexible software architecture helps operators make every subscriber contact a personalized one.  Our solutions uniquely interact with customers in real-time to enable transactional services and allow operators to upsell highly targeted premium content to their subscribers."

With specifications like EBIF™ and tru2way®, the potential for increasing ARPU and adding value to immediate purchases and offers that are “subscriber aware” are significant.  Cable operators have the opportunity to capitalize on providing the right offers and recommendations that a user is most likely to purchase.  Integrating interactive technology standards with back-office sources like provisioning, subscriber services, product catalogs, billing services, payment gateways and ecommerce applications gives a full range of possibilities of personalized offers and direct retail purchasing to upgrading monthly TV packages through an EBIF application.
