Openet Announces Subscriber Data Management (SDM) Solution for Analytics, Business Intelligence

April 27, 2010 - Openet

SDM Solution Aggregates Back Office and Service Consumption Data Across All Networks and Services; Uniquely Enables Cable, Wireless and Wireline Operators with Advanced Analytics and Subscriber-Aware Service Delivery

DUBLIN, Ireland – April 27, 2010 – Openet, the leading provider of Transactional Intelligence for the world’s largest and most innovative network service providers and cable operators, today announced its Subscriber Data Management (SDM) solution. Leveraging Openet’s FusionWorks™ Convergent Mediation product to aggregate subscriber data, Openet’s SDM solution is an umbrella architecture that enables a wide array of subordinate business intelligence and analytics solutions that deliver subscriber and service consumption insights while simultaneously streamlining real-time access to vital user profile data by service delivery applications to enable subscriber-aware services, such as audience measurement and interactive services.

The SDM solution, architected to work with legacy infrastructures without costly upgrades, aggregates, normalizes, cleanses and warehouses subscriber data from back office systems and service consumption data from network infrastructure and makes it available to business intelligence applications and service delivery platforms through a centralized real-time subscriber profile.

Operators have deployed the SDM solution to enable a broad range of subordinate solutions including:
  • Audience Measurement to provide accurate and complete viewership metrics for advertising sales and content provider negotiations;
  • Interactive Service to make vital subscriber data contained in back office systems available during t-commerce;
  • Tiered Service Controls to enable service packaging and pricing;
  • Revenue Assurance to identify revenue losses caused by provisioning errors and fraud;
  • Promotion and Loyalty Analytics to identify opportunities to reduce churn and increase value added service penetration;
  • Network Congestion Analysis to understand network utilization at all points bottlenecks.

The solution is a finalist for and will be presented during the CIO.IT program at The Cable Show 2010 in Los Angeles. In addition, the Subscriber Data Management solution will be demonstrated at Openet’s suite, #ES-14.

“Through our Subscriber Data Management solution, Openet offers a fully dynamic system that works with legacy infrastructure to give intelligent, comprehensive insight in every way subscribers use, view and interact with video and data services,” said Michael Manzo, CMO of Openet.

“This is especially crucial today, as services are changing to becoming more personalized and ‘on demand.’ Operators need to provide compelling services, manage risk, and capture every dime of revenue that exists on their networks,” he added.

Openet’s SDM solution comprises convergent data collection and processing to aggregate data from legacy systems, a data warehouse to manage raw data prior to operationalizing it, a dimensional database for business intelligence and analytics such as audience measurement and accounting and revenue reporting and controls.

It also offers a database to enable transactional services, such as interactive TV, advanced EBIF applications, TV Everywhere, e-commerce authentications and authorizations of spending limits, balances and parental controls. Together, these databases ensure that necessary transactions can be executed and analyzed using all existing data from any system—enabling operators to stop existing revenue leaks and create new streams of business. Additionally, operators can now aggregate subscriber data into a dynamic subscriber profile to manage identity, subscriber entitlement and service usage rules across all services and networks, while anonymizing this data to protect consumer privacy.

The architecture also allows aggregated data to be shared with third-parties to enable business relationships, helpful for industry wide efforts, i.e. collaboration on advanced advertising and other industry-wide initiatives.

“Unlike other subscriber data management solutions available today that really only provide data storage and reporting capabilities, Openet’s SDM solution uniquely interacts with customers to enable transactional services and find lost revenue for cable operators,” said Kelly Anderson, director of MVO solutions for Openet.
