DUBLIN, Ireland– September 4, 2007 – Openet, a provider of Transactional Intelligence solutions for the world’s largest and most innovative service providers today announced performance testing results that set a new benchmark for Tier 1 service provider transaction processing.
The study shows Openet’s FusionWorks PlatformTM running on HP Integrity servers smoothly handles 430 million charging transactions per hour. The testing projects the ability to manage billions of transactions per day, making the combination of FusionWorks on HP Integrity servers an ideal platform for transaction processing for Tier 1 providers that need to manage both legacy and the ever-expanding IP-based traffic of next-generation services.
Openet’s FusionWorks Platform, a processing and transaction management software platform that offers the highest performance, scalability and flexibility service providers require to deploy and manage services, provides unprecedented scalability when coupled with the power of HP Integrity server technology. The average number of actual transactions executed by service providers is far below the capability of the Openet solutions on HP Integrity servers, but is rising rapidly in today’s active market and prompting service providers to future-proof their networks. Based on Openet's observation of Tier 1 operators, services transactions per second for some types of new data grows by more than 50 percent year over year--requiring operating to have sufficient hardware capacity to accommodate the increased traffic.
“Openet FusionWorks on HP Integrity servers is setting the bar with unparalleled scalability for the growing number of transactions service provider networks need to plan for,” said Niall Norton, CEO of Openet. “The industry continues to boom, and operators need cost-effective solutions that can handle any conceivable number of charging, rating and mediation transactions while future-proofing their business to continue growing their next-generation offerings.”
In addition to the charging and mediation results, the testing revealed 41,814 rating transactions per second—the equivalent of 150 million rating requests per hour. In today’s rapidly-evolving market, new services are rolled out constantly, and each of these services must be rated quickly, accurately and efficiently. This solution enables service providers to deploy, rate and ultimately profit from new services, regardless of how many are in play.
“Service providers around the world are under increasing pressure to modernize existing networks and optimize transaction performance,” said Lorraine Bartlett, director of Integrity Server marketing, HP. “By using HP Integrity in tandem with Openet’s FusionWorks Platform, customers can increase efficiency and reduce costs while enhancing performance and increasing productivity.”
HP combines 30 years of telecom experience with its IT leadership to provide the world’s network equipment suppliers and service providers with modular, standards-based commercial servers that are optimized to meet the stringent needs of the central office. Additionally, HP server platforms are supported with mission-critical services to help operators meet the highest possible service availability objectives.
