Dublin, Ireland and Reston, VA, April 12th 2006; Openet Telecom, a world leader in advanced mediation, real-time charging and network-edge rating, has been successfully awarded a contract for its FusionWorks™ ActiveCharge and FusionWorks™ Mediation products for voice and data services with a Tier 1 operator group in Asia Pacific working with one of its regional partners Tech Mahindra.
Openet’s FusionWorks™ products will be supporting the release of 2G and 3G services to both pre- and post-paid customers in 2006. With mobile penetration of approximately 20%, the Indonesian market is poised for massive growth and a split of 90% prepay 10% postpay is anticipated. With FusionWorks enabling converged pre- and post service delivery, Openet’s client is well positioned to capitalize on this growth using Openet’s scalable architecture.
Openet's customer plans a range of nationwide comprehensive and affordable wireless communications services in Indonesia, through a GSM 1800 network with UMTS infrastructure overlaid in key cities. According to plan, the network shall be expanded in phases with target completion of around 2,000 cell sites in Phase One in the second half of 2006.
A spokesman for the customer said “Indonesia is one of our key strategic growth markets. It is our priority to build a high quality wireless network with scalability from the beginning.”
