Dublin, Ireland and Reston VA, 7th April 2003 - Openet Telecom, a world leader in real-time charging and convergent mediation, today announced that Edge Wireless will deploy FusionWorks Mediation, Openet's convergent mediation platform, to support the rollout of new 2.5G and 3G services to its subscriber base.
Serving the western part of the United States as an affiliate of the AT&T Wireless Network, Edge Wireless chose FusionWorks Mediation for its ability to streamline operations and expedite advanced services. FusionWorks Mediation will enable Edge Wireless to exploit the power of their new GPRS/GSM network, which will overlay their existing TDMA network.
In the first phase of deployment, FusionWorks Mediation will serve as the convergent foundation for collecting raw customer usage information from various GPRS/GSM network elements and delivering aggregated data to Edge Wireless's legacy operational, business and decision support systems. With FusionWorks Mediation in place, Edge Wireless will protect its current investment in network infrastructure, while offering its subscribers valuable new features such as SMS and web browsing.
"The convergent power of FusionWorks Mediation will give us the flexibility we need to respond quickly to market pressure for advanced services, as well as improve the level of service we provide to our growing customer base, " commented Donnie Castleman, President and CEO of Edge Wireless. "FusionWorks Mediation will be instrumental in reducing our operating costs and increasing revenue."
"Our proven track record in supporting Tier-1 operators with solid revenue assurance solutions was the most critical factor in the evaluation process," remarked John Rainger, CEO of Openet Telecom. "The deployment of a FusionWorks solution at Edge Wireless is evidence of Openet's ability to meet the unique challenges facing operators in the North American market."
With headquarters in Bend, Oregon, Edge Wireless, LLC offers services in Oregon, California, Idaho and Wyoming. Edge Wireless is a member of the AT&T Wireless Network.
