Continued joint deployments drive global reseller agreement with Cisco Systems

February 14, 2013 - Openet

DUBLIN, Ireland – August 1, 2011 – Openet, the most innovative provider of Service Optimization Software (SOS) to tier one communications and media service providers, today announces that Cisco Systems has signed a global reseller agreement for Openet’s complete product suite including Policy Manager, Convergent Charging,  Network Edge Rating, Balance Manager, Profile Manager and Convergent Mediation, all running on Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS). Under the terms of the agreement, Cisco will sell, deploy and support solutions built upon Openet’s software products globally – increasing Openet’s worldwide reach and placing Openet’s 3GPP compliant products within a suite of Policy and Charging Control (PCC) solutions. These solutions include Cisco’s LTE, fixed-mobile convergence, M2M, video and cloud initiatives.

Joint deployments at Turkcell and Meteor Ireland in 2010, along with deployments with operators in Japan, Austria and the Netherlands, have driven Openet and Cisco Systems to agree to a comprehensive set of reseller terms covering commercial and technical services, as well as support models. Openet’s flexible combined policy and charging architecture and extensive use case portfolio, coupled with Cisco’s scalable hardware, offer market leading solutions to cutting edge tier one service providers and now jointly supports more than 130 million subscribers across the install base. This agreement builds upon seven years of co-selling with Cisco on more than 20 accounts, including Orange and other service providers.

“Openet’s historical—and innovative—stance on the importance of coupling policy with charging has resulted in a bulletproof product that meets operators’ evolving needs. With Cisco as the leading hardware vendor and Openet as the leading software vendor, especially as Openet was recently named the global revenue leader in policy management by Infonetics, the market now has a joint offering to address every point on the policy and charging spectrum,” said Michael Manzo, CMO of Openet. “This extension of our seven-year relationship with Cisco is supported by a long-running track record of successfully co-selling products and an existing OEM agreement. By working together to expand that reach and augment existing solutions, Cisco and Openet can provide best-of-breed, end-to-end offerings that truly meet the operator needs of today, and mitigate the challenges of tomorrow.”

Openet integrates with the following Cisco products: ASR 5000, CSG, CSG2, SCE and eGGSN. Additionally, Openet supports Cisco’s Mobile Packet Core 2.0. Openet was the first to bring combined Policy and OCS capabilities to Cisco’s Interoperability forum.
