BT Global Services and BT Wholesale Select Openet Telecom to Provide Circuit-Switched Voice and IP Mediation for their Global Operations

April 2, 2004 - Openet

2nd April 2004; Dublin, Ireland and Reston VA; Openet Telecom, a world leader in real-time charging, convergent mediation and adjunct rating, today announced a joint decision by BT Global Services and BT Wholesale to deploy FusionWorks Mediation for ten of its affiliate sites in Europe and North America. Under this strategic contract, Openet's convergent mediation solution, FusionWorks Mediation, will mediate customer usage data for BT's voice and IP traffic throughout their global network which currently covers Belgium, Central and Eastern Europe, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, Nordics, Spain, United Kingdom and the USA.

Implementation is due to start immediately with plans for FusionWorks Mediation to be fully deployed with all affiliates within the next twelve months. Mediation will take place in batch and real-time as required by BT's growing suite of service offerings.

“We are delighted with BT's decision to adopt FusionWorks Mediation across the group. Their decision was made on the basis of a thorough evaluation of the significant mediation solutions on the market,” stated John Rainger, CEO Openet Telecom. “This builds on our successful existing deployments within BT and reflects our ability to deliver true convergence and flexible configurability. As well as offering a deployment suited to the specific needs of BT in each country, Openet will also provide a unified mediation platform for BT's expanding global traffic.”

“FusionWorks Mediation answers BT's need for scalability and flexibility for a convergent mediation solution that will support both PSTN-based and new IP services,” stated Richard Jones, BT Wholesale, Manager, Billing Systems Development. “We have found Openet to be customer focussed, reacting to our requirements when necessary. They also have an excellent track record with other Tier One operators which was also a deciding factor in the ITT.”

“Openet offers a true convergent and network-independent architecture that will meet BT Global Services current and some future Mediation requirements. Openet Telecom offers BT high levels of flexibility in terms of usability and configurability through knowledge transfer and the establishment of a joint competence centre. This puts the power of FusionWorks Mediation directly into our hands, allowing BT to immediately benefit from enhanced revenues streams, unified operations and optimised network architecture,” commented Leena Magudia, Head of Billing, BT Global Services.“
