Bell has worked with Openet charging for over 5 years. In response to the need for increased speed and agility in BSS, Openet and Bell have pioneered how digital BSS will be developed and delivered to support digital services.

- Employing a DevOps approach in a CI/CD (continuous integration / continuous development) environment, Openet and Bell are working together to respond quickly to new opportunities and ensure fast and accurate development and deployment of new features and functions
- Openet’s library of microservices providers the foundation for co-development of rating and charging functions
- Re-writing the rule book of the traditional operator – vendor relationship. This approach involved Bell and Openet working as trusted co-development partners
This new approach to developing and delivering BSS lets Bell break free from the traditional approach of being tied to the vendors’ product roadmaps and release dates. Using microservices and DevOps enables Bell to innovate at the speed their market demands. By having this agile approach to BSS, Bell’s IT team responsible for BSS can cater for the current marketing demands for IT to support 4G services, and enables the platform to support the vast range of use cases that 5G will empower.
This new and collaborative approach to BSS typifies the innovative nature of Bell. As a company, Bell is getting results. Their innovative offers are helping attract new customers as well as retaining existing customers. In Q3 2019 Bell’s reported record 14.8% growth wireless net additions and a reduction in postpaid churn to 1.12%.
