LTE Demands Billing, Charging System Advancements

A new survey underscores the need to replace legacy prepaid charging and traditional billing systems in today's growing digital economy.

In a survey of 80 operators worldwide, Dublin-based Openet found that 70 percent believe Intelligent Network (IN)-based charging systems will be replaced with real-time, online charging systems (OCS) within the next four years. An even larger number (87 percent) of respondents said that most operators will replace existing billing solutions with real-time charging.
