Malaysian operator, YTL launched a 4G WiMAX network to provide converged 4G mobile internet and voice services, and was one of the first operators in the world to offer hi-definition voice calls on a mobile internet network. Providing converged voice and data, pre- and post-paid services, allowed YTL to create compelling, differentiated offerings, such as mobile internet and voice, together in a seamless plan. This is necessary to attract and retain customers in a high churn market. The challenge was how to monetize these offers using a single charging system, and provide the flexibility required to roll out new charging models in response to customer and market advances.
Openet supplied Evolved Charging and Mediation products, enabling YTL to:
- Provide proven real-time, flexible charging and transaction management
- Authorize usage based on accurate, timely charging data, which minimizes fraud
- Support complex charging models, various payment methods, and cross service pricing
- Support all services from one single platform, including pre- and post-paid services
By implementing Openet’s Evolved Charging and Mediation products, YTL is enabled to rapidly launch new WiMAX services, now and in the future. This includes the ability to develop complex business models fast, and to develop flexible plans to meet market advances. Also by providing a fully convergent solution on a single system, YTL can enjoy significant OpEx reductions.
YTL also realizes other cost benefits by preventing sources of revenue leakage and fraud through stringent, real-time event processing and charging.
