FusionWorks Policy Manager

The FusionWorks™ Policy Manager enables service providers to generate and rapidly deploy centralized subscriber centric policy rules; deliver a highly differentiated service customized to subscribers’ preferences; and apply policy decisions dynamically to respond to changing network and subscriber status.

Built upon the industry leading Openet FusionWorks™ Framework, the FusionWorks™ Policy Manager delivers the performance, scalability and availability to deliver IP-based services in a Tier-1 converged environment.

Implement Tiered Service Levels

As adoption and usage of high-speed data packages grows, the needs of subscribers will vary considerably in terms of capacity, performance and reliability. The FusionWorks™ Policy Manager enables service providers’ to implement segmented offerings and enforce subscriber preferences to deliver a more targeted service. Service offerings can be differentiated by prioritizing subscriber traffic flows, for example to sell higher bandwidth capacity, and to create new revenue streams. Based on subscribers’ profiles, policies can be implemented in real-time that prioritize access, performance, charging, roaming or service-dependent requirements. Making it possible for subscribers to create and be charged for a highly personalized service package and ensuring services match performance expectations.

Sophisticated Policy Management for Networks and Subscribers

Early methods for enabling policy control were inflexible, static and generally tied to network equipment. While, static user preferences will remain important, real-time criteria such as location, subscriber status, time-of-day, etc. add significant value to services. With FusionWorks™ Policy Manager, policies become subscriber- and service-aware and are applied in response to real-time network or service usage conditions: to determine what services are to be delivered, service restrictions, usage limits, and the enforcement of contractual conditions. Enabling service providers to factor bandwidth criteria into network admission decisions, ensure subscribers comply with the terms of contracts, enforce ‘fair use’ policies and ensure threshold triggers are applied.

Consolidate Policy Nodes

Policy is not a new area; traditionally operators have deployed separate policy controls to manage subscriber access, networks and services. As networks converge and the numbers of services increase, subscriber preferences will demand greater customization. In this scenario, it makes sense to treat policy as a generalized resource, where policy decisions are made across applications, users and network availability. A centralized policy solution makes it easier to bind service requests with policy rules, to deliver the appropriate level of service and value to both service provider and subscriber.

Deploy a Fully Realized Solution

FusionWorks™ Policy Manager is only half of the solution required by the world’s largest and most innovative service providers. Addressing the in-session policy decision needs of today and the future requires best practices, customization, integration, fine-tuning, and more. That is, it requires a trusted partner – Openet – and the expertise and commitment to excellence of Openet’s Services teams to deliver a true solution.
