FusionWorks™ Correlation Transaction Engine (CTE)

Correlation and Transaction Engine (CTE)

The heart of the FusionWorks™ Framework, the Correlation and Transaction Engine (CTE) delivers the performance at scale to serve the needs of the world’s largest service providers. A multi-threaded, rules-based engine designed for deployment in redundant, high-availability architectures, the CTE is capable of handling the highest scale—billions of daily events, and thousands simultaneously.

Using the business rules that are quickly and flexibly configured through Business Rules Engine (BRE), the CTE concurrently processes activity for all services on legacy and IP-based networks. Service providers can be assured that the system will support their needs into the future, regardless of how their networks evolve and what services they deploy.

Processing of Network Events

The CTE, deployed for “passive” mediation-based solutions – those that require single-directional processing of network usage events, processes activity from network equipment and application servers to aggregate, validate, filter, and enrich data - producing a single useful record from numerous, seemingly unrelated events that arrive from various sources, in various formats and over various protocols (some in batch mode, some in real time).

Managing Service Transactions

Extending the event processing capabilities, the CTE provides two-way communication between upstream network equipment and downstream systems such as rating engines, balance managers, authentication servers, and policy servers. In “active” transaction management products and solutions, the CTE operates in-session, enabling end-user services through authentication, access authorization, service- and subscriber-aware policy decisions, as well as managing in-session billing functions such as rating, balance reservations, deductions and credit and spending limit decisions.
