In this edition of the Openet newsletter, we are focusing on the importance of operators to have a full view of the cost and opportunities as they manage their existing network infrastructure spend (i.e. maintenance spend) and plan for the evolution of their networks for next generation services. Both issues have a common denominator, both have several component elements that have a very large costs and risks impact for Operators – namely the required hardware partnerships.

Anyone who has heard me speak recently has heard me refer to the phenomenal growth experienced by Openet customers in network events and transactions. Some context to those remarks: many of Openet’s customers are increasing data volumes by over 20% each and every quarter, driven by marketing bundles, promotions and better handheld devices. Even more remarkable is that with growing subscriber familiarity with data and content services, conversations with service providers are focusing on planning for a doubling and in some cases quadrupling of network volumes over the next 24 months. Not surprisingly, this has brought scalability to the top of many agendas, which dovetails well with the underlying scalability of all Openet solutions through our development and performance engineering efforts on the FusionWorks platform.
