Despite its small population, Lithuania is one of the worlds most sophisticated mobile markets, with 140% mobile penetration and a network footprint of 98%. Mobile minutes have long surpassed fixed call time, and 76% of mobile customers use their device and networks to access the Internet.
With this in mind, Omnitel needed a system capable of tracking usage across multiple services including voice, SMS, mobile Internet and mobile TV. Omnitel also chose to implement FusionWorks Convergent Charging because the majority of Lithuania's mobile users are on pre-pay charging modules, therefore the operator needs access to real-time intelligence to ensure that data services are only available when credit is sufficient.
Rolandas Ryliskis CTO of Omnitel said: "FusionWorks Convergent Charging and FusionWorks Network Edge Rating offers the vital flexibility , reliability and speed needed to better control transactions and quickly deploy new tariffs and services that meet the changing needs of our customers." In addition, Openet will simplify the management of Omnitel's rating schemes and unify its rating tables across pre-pay data customers. FusionWorks Network Edge Rating will allow Omnitel to stay competitive through the swift deployment of new tariffs, ad hoc promotions and new services that will drive top line revenue for the company.
"As part of a strategically timed review of their ratings process, we were able to help Omnitel consolidate hundreds of rating plans into just 12." said Philip Hogan, VP Sales EMEA & APAC at Openet. "We've also created technology options so that Omnitel can apply rule-based rating and logic-based rating as well as time-based charging for streamed services, further driving control and revenue capture." |
