ROLE TITLE: Software Architect

ROLE SUMMARY:
Reporting to the CTO, the Software Architects are focused on Product Design, Technical Strategy and Research, Requirements Generation, Pre-sales Technical Support, Technical and Strategic Presentation Delivery, Innovation contribution.
A widely varied work schedule that is largely interrupt / priority driven demanding a broad and deep knowledge of the Telecom OSS industry, telecommunications software technology space and a personal interest in new technologies in hardware, software and processes.
A high degree of short duration travel is to be expected.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Product Requirements Specification creation for new product development and enhancements to existing products
- Confirmation of requirements with marketing, product management and other departments
- Communication of new requirements to Engineering group
- Technical Reviews of Functional Specifications and software developed by engineering group based on requirements specifications
- Providing Technical answers for RFx during Sales Process
- Providing support for Sales engineering in RFx development
- Preparing stock answers and generic presentations for Sales Engineering
- Participation in Sales calls and visits where technical expertise is needed
- Preparation and Delivery of Technical Presentations to potential and existing customers regarding new features and solution architectures
- Participation in internal engineering forums and architecture groups
- Writing Technical White papers on related technology
- Creation of collateral defining Openet’s thought leadership in the market place.
- Creation of presentation material for industry shows and forums.
- Attending and contributing to Telecom standards organizations.
- Participate in the innovation and product management process.

REQUIREMENTS:
Essential:
- Software development in a UNIX environment Design and development track record
- C & C++ UNIX OOD
- Problem definition & Problem Solving
- Analysis & Requirements Gathering
- Communications & Presentation Skills
- Wide Customer Exposure
- Telecommunication Software & Protocols
- Exposure to telecoms system software
- UNIX OS programming background – C, C++, Java
Useful:
- Telecom networks
- Java CORBA NT VC++ Telecom networking (ISDN, X.25, SS7)
- Billing / Other OSS experience
- Switching / Routing experience
- Broad Programming languages experience
- Exposure to multiple programming methodologies and life cycles
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 5 years work experience at Senior Software Design Level.
- Able to discuss in detail all aspects of the Mediation / Charging / Rating / Balance Management Telecommunications software industry.
- Able to discuss in depth current architectural and design methodologies and approaches.
- Detailed work experience related to Telecommunications Software Product Design
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3rd Level Degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or Equivalent
