Role Title: Test Engineer – Professional Services
Location: Malasia
Department: Professional Services/Product
Reporting to: Lead Engineer or Project Manager
The Professional Services Group is responsible for developing mediation, charging and rating solutions, built on Openet’s platform, to customers. This will involve analysis of the customers’ requirements, implementing and testing solutions to meet these needs. Professional Services delivers end to end solutions from agreeing the requirements with major Telecom Operators to final deployment.
ROLE SUMMARY
The role of the Test Engineer in Professional Services at Openet is to formally certify the software applications before they are delivered for integration with the customer billing system. The Test Engineer is responsible for all the tests phases of the project including Integration Testing, Functional Testing, Performance Testing and Stability Testing.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review the Requirements and Design documents.
- Design and implementation of Integration and System Test Specifications
- Uses test specifications and test plans in the course of carrying out the effective testing of a customer solution.
- Ensure the solution will meet the functional, performance and stability requirements.
- Implement or customize simulators.
- Setup the automated testing framework for new projects.
- Operates within a supervised environment with frequent review of tasks being carried out.
- After training, is familiar with, and is able to function effectively with, all applicable methods, procedures and standards. (Automated Test Tools…)
- Demonstrates an organized, systematic, disciplined and analytical approach to problem solving.
- Develops sufficient oral and written communication skills for effective dialogue with colleagues on a project team and superiors.
- Liaises with development engineers in debugging and problem solving
- Continues to develops an appreciation of the wider field of technology outside his/her own specialization and has developed a good broad understanding of computer system architecture, telecommunications technologies, and telecommunications industry developments and trends.
- Is able to plan, schedule and monitor own work competently.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- Broad understanding of telecommunications.
- Experience in testing or delivering mediation or billing solutions for major operators.
- In-depth knowledge in testing methodologies.
- Familiar with a UNIX environment (preferably Solaris & HP-UX).
- Working experience in Database technology (preferably Oracle).
- Working experience in scripting languages such as Shell, TCL, DCL
- Excellent Written and Oral Communication Skills
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
- Ability to Multitask / Attention to Detail
- Is proactive in ensuring resolution of issues
- Relationship Builder
USEFUL SKILLS
- Experience in automated tests.
- Telecom networking protocols (ISDN, X.25, SS7)
- In-depth understanding of telecom networks and technologies

EDUCATION
- Bachelors’ degree or equivalent experience, and a minimum 8-10 years industry experience some of which must me in a Team Lead or Project Management role.
