Board Members

Gary Cuccio, Chairman

As Chairman of Openet, Gary maintains relationships with shareholders and provides operational guidance as the company continues to grow. He brings over 30 years of telecommunications experience to Openet.

Gary previously was CEO of ATG, a large fixed-line telephone company, and CEO of LHS, a NASDAQ-listed supplier of billing systems to mobile operators. Gary also spent 27 years at Pacific Bell, where he held numerous positions within the company's US and European divisions. He has also been COO of Belgacom Mobile, an Airtouch Intl. subsidiary in Belgium, and Vice President of Airtouch Europe, PacBell's mobile operator business. Gary left PacBell to become the COO of Omnipoint, which later became a part of T-Mobile US, before returning to assume the position of President of Airtouch Paging.

Gary has an AMP from Harvard, an MBA from St. Mary's College (CA ) and a BA from CSULA.

Simon Cassif, Board Member

Simon Cassif acted for several years as President of Amdocs Europe where his main priority was the development of business partnerships with its strategic customers in Europe. In this role, he was instrumental in driving revenue growth and strengthening the company's Tier One customer base. Prior to joining Amdocs, Simon acted in a variety of roles as Vice President, Customer Service Executive and Chief Information Officer at a telecommunications company. Simon has substantial experience in developing and delivering large-scale IT solutions to the telecommunications industry and has significant expertise in supporting Tier One operators and growing their business. Simon holds an M.Sc. degree in Operations Research and B.Sc. (Cum Laude) in Industrial & Management Engineering.

Niall Norton, Chief Executive Officer

Niall Norton joined Openet as CFO in February 2004 and was appointed CEO in September 2006. His post-qualification experience ranges from key roles in manufacturing, corporate finance, telecommunications regulation, and network operators. He gained extensive corporate finance and commercial acumen while at his previous position as CFO with O2 (Ireland), where he helped develop that country's second mobile license holder. His responsibilities there also spanned corporate finance and project management, including successful SAP implementation, enterprise-wide Euro-impact planning for O2 Ireland (Digifone), and the O2 Ireland WLAN and E-Enablement projects. Niall took the lead management role for the Ireland element of the BT Wireless de-merger and O2 IPO process.

Joe Hogan, Chief Technology Officer

In addition to being CTO, Joe Hogan is a board member and founder of Openet. The principal architect of the FusionWorks platform, he has more than 20 years of software engineering experience. He represents the company in the IETF, 3GPP, IPDR.org, and GBA forums and frequently speaks at and chairs conferences throughout Europe, Asia, and North America. Joe was a senior architect with Sun Microsystems's European kernel development center before leaving to found Openet.

Barry Maloney, Balderton Capital

Prior to joining Balderton, Barry spent five years as CEO of Esat Digifone, Ireland's second largest GSM mobile operator. Under Barry's leadership, Esat Digifone expanded to 900 employees, more than 1 million customers, and IR400 million in revenues. Esat Digifone was acquired by British Telecom at a market value of IR£2 billion and is now part of the O2 Group.

Before Esat Digifone, Barry spent two years at Xerox Corporation in Palo Alto, California, where as Vice President of first Business Development and then Channel Operations, he helped revolutionize the company's approach to global marketing. Barry previously worked at Digital Equipment as European Pricing Manager, Director of Software Business Europe, and Vice President of the Component and Peripheral Business Unit Europe.

Barry sits on the boards of Alphyra, Bebo, Globoforce, InnerWorkings, Newbay, Nexagent, Openet, and WeeWorld. He has an Economics Degree from University College, Dublin, 1980.

Bruno Dizengremel, General Partner, Innovacom

Bruno Dizengremel joined Innovacom in 2001 as head of its Nordic office in Stockholm. He previously had managed business development for a subsidiary of the Ericsson Group in Stockholm, where he specialized in telecommunications network management applications (OSS).

Bruno earlier worked within the France Telecom group for 10 years in various management capacities. Most recently, he was vice president of business development at France Telecom Mobiles International, where he initiated the group's creation and investment in various mobile networks. Bruno has also served as technical director for Panafon, the GSM operator in Greece.

A graduate of the École Polytechnique, he also holds a diploma from École Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications in Paris.

James W. Mortenz, Pd. D, Vice President, Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC)

Jim Morentz leads the development of advanced technologies to improve planning for and response to all types of natural, technological, and terrorist events.  For three years, he was Director of SAIC’s Public Safety Integration Center PSIC, a laboratory, test bed, and demonstration center that includes technologies from more than 120 companies integrated to engage in scenario-based performance evaluations of products and processes. 

Prior to joining SAIC in 2002, Morentz was CEO of Essential Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of Environmental, Health and Safety, and Emergency Management software to governments and corporations around the world.  Earlier, as CEO of Essential Technologies, Inc. and founder or president of three other software and service companies and was involved in mergers, acquisitions, spin-offs, and raising venture capital.  He was founder and served on the board of Enterprism, Inc., a German-US joint venture to provide services to SAP environmental software customers.

Dr. Morentz was the recipient of the 1991 Computerworld Smithsonian Award for “visionary use of information technology” and the 1995 U.S. Chamber of Commerce Blue Chip Enterprise Initiative Award.  The University of Pennsylvania awarded his Ph.D. in 1976 and he is a graduate of the American University, School of International Service.
